Description
One of a few grasses that will thrive in shade, the Gold Dew Tufted Hair Grass is a highly ornamental North American native adored for its ethereal summer through fall bloom that produces an airy cloud of golden flowers which rise above an attractive mounded tussock of very thin deep green grassy blades. The flowers are particularly attractive when backlit by the sun. Especially attractive when mixed with ferns and other shade-loving perennials, this cool-season beauty is excellent as an accent in small garden spaces or grouped or massed in woodland gardens or naturalized areas. It is also an attractive plant for use to stabilize embankments, streambanks and shorelines. It is a larval food plant for several butterflies in North America including the Umber Skipper.
